About Us

Owned and operated by the Wetanson family, Dallas BBQ is a family-run restaurant business with a  four-generation history in New York city. It all started in 1936 with Carl and Grace Wetanson, who opened “Grace’s Luncehonette,” coincidentally at the same 42nd-street address where Dallas BBQ’s flagship restaurant in Times Square is currently located. Carl Wetanson’s son, Herb, started the historic Wetson’s Hamburgers, a chain of hamburger joints in the 1960’s that grew close to 100 locations and went public in the 1970’s in New York City. The 1980’s birthed Dallas BBQ and the 1990’s brought Tony’s DiNapoli to the New York restaurant scene, currently run by the three generations Herb, Greg, and Stuart Wetanson.

Dallas BBQ covers every borough in the city except Staten Island. With ten locations, the largest Dallas BBQ is situated in the middle of Times Square between 7th and 8th Avenue. Its original Upper West Side eatery on West 72nd Street, which debuted in 1978, was steps away from the famed Dakota Hotel where Yoko Ono, Roberta Flack and Lauren Bacall reside.

The Times Square Dallas BBQ seats 780 people and on a busy night can serve up to 10,000 meals including catering, take-out and delivery. The smallest eatery in the East Village accommodates 150 people.

Dallas BBQ caters New Yorkers of all sorts by staying hip and fun while being reasonably priced. They thrive all over New York from Co-Op City and Fordham Road in the Bronx to Flatbush & Nostrand or Livingston & Smith in Brooklyn. They are also located in Manhattan’s Washington Heights, Chelsea, Upper East Side, East Village and Times Square.

The house specialty is the slow-cooked rotisserie chicken and Baby-Back Ribs and they are also well regarded for their Texas-Size Frozen Drinks, wings, burgers, and seafood.

The family-owned Dallas BBQ restaurants have provided New Yorkers with outstanding dining and value for more than 30 years and remain an Iconic New York staple today.

With over 50,000 fans on Facebook and a powerful presence on Instagram and various media platforms, Dallas BBQ is as relevant as ever and part of the pulse of New York City.
